| AM Pierce & Associates President Attends PAX NAS Town Hall With Defense Secretary Leon Panetta - Friday, January 20, 2012
AM Pierce & Associates President, Adelle Pierce, attended a town hall style event held by Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) as part of U.S. Secretary of Defense, Mr. Leon Panetta’s first visit to Patuxent River Naval Air Station on Friday, January 20, 2012. The Congressman and Defense Secretary toured several facilities related to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, offering Mr. Panetta the opportunity to “see firsthand the talent and world class capabilities of Pax River, and its role in supporting future weapons systems and providing direct support to troops engaged in combat today,” according to an advisory released by Hoyer’s office. Mr. Panetta commented that, “this is a very unique facility; it is a national treasure that is important for us to maintain.”
Panetta recognized that maintaining military strength to confront the threats faced today and in the future is going to be challenging in light of the budget constraints, but he has told advisors to “view this as an opportunity to shape the defense system we need for the future.” “We have to protect our R&D capability and we have to protect our industrial base. If we cut back on that industrial base it will weaken us for the future,” Panetta said. “Because of you, because of the very unique testing and capability that are offered here, we are able to maintain that technological edge.”
